Establishing Campus-Based Prevention Policies in the 21st Century

As a way to help campuses address student substance abuse, we have provided the following resources and links.

These resources resulted from the proceedings of a two-day collaborative conference aimed at educating and assisting campuses in establishing a highly effective and meaningful campus prevention policy.  The vision of the policy was to encourage “imbedded” prevention in all aspects of campus life, be it athletics, residence housing, organizations, faculty or staff just to name a few.  We have included two selected video presentations from day one of the conference intended to educate stakeholders on the issue of campus substance abuse.   The Real Time Record captured the collaborative process that was the focus of day two of the conference with small groups of participants addressing a variety of campus concerns.  The Action Plan and Action Plan Presentation are outlines representing how campuses might implement the policy development process.  Finally, the model policy, “Changing the Culture, Committing to Excellence” is a compilation of policy pieces culled from many campus policies (available online) – perhaps considered to be a representative “best of the best.”
